I am originally from Hong Kong, but had lived in the United States for several years. While my dad has his own business in Hong Kong, my mom had her own restaurant in Texas. I guess you could say that is where I learned the basics of opening my own restaurant; running my own business.

Throughout my high school years, I had thoughts of becoming a fashion designer, a flight attendant, an events planner and even a hotelier. I was very confused as to what I actually want to do with my life. Not long after my high school graduation, I thought about studying Hotel and Tourism Management seeing that everything that I thought of becoming actually is some way or another a part of Hospitality. Boutique hotels such as Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts and Armani Hotel have fascinated me as they combine both Fashion and Hotel industries. Event planning especially for weddings are truly a great excitement. Hotel & Tourism Management studies also gives me the possibility of entering airlines operation. With my elder sister being a former flight purser for an international airline, her stories almost convinced me that Hospitality and Tourism Industry is where I want to be. The best place to receive such an education is Switzerland, and I can guarantee you that HTMi is the best of the best hotel schools in the country.

I am Oreo Chan from Macau. I had started my study at Certificate course in HTMi since 2007. Frankly speaking, I was a little worried about how my life would be and whether I could get along with other students from different countries before coming to this school. My name is Kay,  I am a student of HTMi. Studying hospitality and tourism course is like an essential course for everybody who is interested in working in the hotel and tourism industry. Of course we all want better education and experiences to get a better job in the future. As everyone knows, Switzerland is the country, which specializes in hotel and tourism  courses, and so I chose HTMi, Hotel and Tourism Management Institute Switzerland to start my future career.

At HTMi I am now studying the Diploma, course which means the second year of the undergraduate programme. Before that, I had six-month internship in a fine dining restaurant in Zurich. Basically, I worked as a service trainee. I was trained to serve there with what I have learned such as the procedure of opening a wine bottle and the way of serving the dish.

My name is Jina Kim. I am from South Korea (Seoul) student. I had started my Higher Diploma course in HTMi since Spring 2010. At the first I was really worried because I had 2 years break from studies. The teachers and students in HTMi are so nice and friendly that they have helped me very quickly to get back on track with my study. Life in HTMi, well there is so much happening and it is learning withfun, so you won’t realize how time is flying. The career support in HTMi is so good that we already had some hotels visiting and we already finished some interviews.

HTMi implements a very high level of technology in teaching. Teachers and students are given iPod Touch to share and get information in hospitality and learn. So we can check the latest hospitality news in the industry and keep up with the latest trends anytime. The facilities are so amazing and the best part about school is the events we have so many events every semester we get to know a lot about different cultures and the chance to participate and learn different events organizing strategies is so informative and has bought a new perspective for my career options.

Hi, my name is Narumon Nilmanon and I am from Thailand. I am currently studying at HTMi since August 2009. I enrolled as a Postgraduate Diploma in International Hotel and Tourism Management student. At the moment I am studying the Diploma in training for the trainers in hotel management.

Before coming to HTMi I successfully completed my Bachelor of Arts majoring in Chinese and English. After having completed my tertiary studies, I asked myself what will be the next step in my life. Having thought about it for some time I finally came to the conclusion that I am destined to the hospitality industry. I strongly believe that I am designed for this industry due to the fact that I really love interacting with people and it is the perfect place to apply my linguistic skills.

Hi everybody, my name is Nguyen Thanh Long. I come from HaNoi, Vietnam. Currently, I am doing the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree Course in HTMi. It has been 4 years since my first time I was in HTMi, I can say that I really enjoy studying and being a part of this International multi-cultural home here. I get a lot of support and assistance to improve myself from my dedicated teachers who are always willing to help and guide us.

Moreover, HTMi also brings me a lot of chances to learn and experience different cultures and customs from the other countries through a variety of events and cultural night. It is amazing.

Besides, I recognize that theory is not enough. We need to apply it into the working life out there. Here, in HTMi, I get the chance to have this practice. During a semester, we have over 50 big events organized by students themselves. That is why either you are in Certificate or in MBA level, you will get involved as a part of the event. From that point, we have a very good preparation for the upcoming life then.

Naizabekova Anel - Kazakhstan - Diploma in International Hotel and Tourism Management

My name is Naizabekova Anel. I’m from Kazakhstan. Last August I first arrived at the HTMi campus. Feeling lost and missing my family, I did not know if I could get through the whole semester. However, the teachers and students of HTMi warmly welcomed me to the school and made me feel at home. I got to know many people from different countries and backgrounds, who have now, became my friends.

Starting in HTMi I did not know much about the hospitality industry. But with the help and guidance of our professional teaching staff team, I already feel like an experienced manager. I am going to do my internship in a famous five star hotel chain “Rixos” and I am sure that I can apply all the knowledge I have gained in HTMi at my workplace.

My school is situated in Soerenberg, a very safe place and one of the most beautiful locations in Central Switzerland. The local people here are really friendly and are even helping me to learn their language, which, without any doubt, will benefit me in my future career. Moreover, there is so much to do here during the weekends, whether it is going snowboarding or meeting my friends in the local café.

Rohan Thatté - India - BSc (hons) Degree in International Hotel and Tourism Management

Ever since I can remember the first events of my life, traveling has played a big role. Due to my dad’s job, practically every four years, we have moved to another; Mumbai, New Delhi, Jakarta, and Singapore, before heading to sunny/snowy Soerenberg to study at HTMi. I have always associated the definition of entrepreneur with starting a business in the vibrant hospitality industry, and what better place to learn the core aspects of hospitality and becoming an entrepreneur than at HTMi.

HTMi is a place where every student is empowered and encouraged to come up with their own ideas. Considering that there are more than thirty nationalities represented at HTMi, new student ideas are not uncommon. Many get a chance to actually live their idea and make it into a reality. I had a suggestion to create a school yearbook, this way every graduation student gets to take away a part of HTMi. Today, I still see students browsing through it on campus. HTMi gave me the chance to create something of my own, and this was just my example. There have been student ideas that have made revolutions!

Hospitality is my future career since working in the Hospitality industry and meeting people from different kinds of fields, cultures and nationalities have become my main interest in life. Coming to Switzerland to study hospitality have been my dream since I was small and now I am very proud to be here in my school HTMi where the dreams comes true.

This semester is my 3rd semester here in HTMi and I am now studying Culinary Management. Actually I was a little worried in the beginning of last semester. I didn’t know anything about European cooking methods when I came here. However, after two weeks, I felt so comfortable and easy with my course. Everyone here is very friendly and helpful. HTMi is just like my home abroad. My Life in HTMi!

Fall 2009 was the time I began my life in this beautiful country called Switzerland. My first impression of this country was how mountains and greenery always accompanied the surrounding. Not bad for a first impression I must say.
